El Salvador is preparing to host one of the most important surfing events in the world: the “ISA World Longboard Championship – Surf City El Salvador 2024” organized by the International Surfing Association (ISA). This event will have the participation of approximately 190 competitors representing 39 different countries in two main categories: Open Men and Open Women. On April 23, the Evangelical University of El Salvador (UEES) was present at the event with a delegation of volleyball athletes, their coach and the DCU student chaplain team. During their participation, they had the opportunity to participate in a series of activities that included a guided tour of the facilities, a detailed methodological explanation of the tournament, as well as the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the sport and culture of surfing. The importance of events of this magnitude for the promotion and positioning of El Salvador as a first class tourist destination at the international level was also highlighted. Participants also had the opportunity to enjoy the live competition and the various programmed activities, as well as to learn about the initiatives and actions carried out by the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) through the Surf City strategy.
