II Trinational Meeting of Universities.
San Salvador was the setting for the II Trinational Meeting of Universities, held on July 4 and 5, 2024. This significant event has brought together leading educational institutions in the country and has been organized by the Universidad Evangélica de El Salvador (UEES), Universidad Salvadoreña Alberto Masferrer (USAM), Universidad Gerardo Barrios (UGB) and the Universidad de El Salvador (UES) and has had the active participation of their respective rectors: Dr. Cristina Juárez de Amaya (UEES), Dra. Daysi de Gómez (USAM), Lic. José Salvador Alvarenga (UGB), and M.Sc. Juan Rosa Quintanilla (UES).
Under the theme “Innovation in Higher Education: Effective Integration of Artificial Intelligence”, the Trinational Meeting focused on exploring and discussing the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. Participating universities have joined forces to address the challenges and opportunities that AI presents in higher education, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
For two days, academics, researchers and technology experts have gathered at the Mirador Plaza Hotel to participate in keynote lectures and interactive workshops. Among the topics discussed were the implementation of AI tools in the classroom, the development of academic programs based on AI and the ethical implications of its use in education.
The event has counted with the enthusiastic participation of teachers from the different faculties of UEES. In addition, the live broadcasting through social networks was in charge of the Educational Technology Department of our institution, allowing a wider audience to benefit from the valuable discussions and presentations made.
This meeting has not only served as a platform for learning and innovation, but has also strengthened the ties between the participating universities, reaffirming the commitment to work together towards an educational future driven by artificial intelligence.
