UNIVERSIDAD EVANGÉLICA DE EL SALVADOR

DIRECTORATE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION

On November 14, at the Gerardo Barrios University (UGB) in San Miguel, the Directorate of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCI) participated in the V meeting of Internationalization Offices of HEIs in El Salvador. The objective is to continue strengthening and providing strategic support to the internationalization areas of seventeen HEIs in El Salvador.

The Rector of UGB, Salvador Alvarenga, gave the welcoming remarks to UGB, highlighting the importance of outlining the design of a flexible curriculum with a focus on competencies to facilitate mobilities.

During the meeting, the National Director of Higher Education, Dr. Christian Aparicio, greeted the participants virtually. He emphasized that within the framework of internationalization, El Salvador can seek to call Central American students to study in the HEIs of El Salvador, and that MINED can facilitate this scenario. On the other hand, the Head of Internationalization and Academic Cooperation-DNES, Maestra. Lidia Flamenco emphasized that the National Higher Education Policy (2021) will intentionally focus on internationalization. That the processes and indicators for HEIs will be standardized in this sense.

In addition, there were keynote presentations on the course: Management of Internationalization of the German Cooperation, Mirror Classes, and the value of intercultural education. The next meeting will be held in February 2024, where the Annual Work Plan will be developed.
