Abstract

Since its origins, in November 2019 in Wuhan China, Covid-19 went from being a local respiratory disease to a disease of global concern declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in January 2020. Other pandemics of respiratory type like the Spanish flu in 1914-1919; the Asian flu, in 1957; and the Hong Kong flu, in 1968, share the common characteristic of its rapid spread among the population, an aspect that the new coronavirus has overcome, spreading with greater speed and force, which is why it represents a greater threat.
