Prevalence of Obesity and Risk Factors for Developing Associated Pathologies

Abstract

Obesity is an excessive accumulation of fat in the adipose tissues of the body, which can become a serious danger to health; It is also defined as a chronic disease of multicausal etiology. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence of obesity, risk factors for developing pathologies, we worked with a sample of 13 men and 29 women corresponding to 79.2% of the total employees of the Faculty of Medicine. Among the main findings, it was found that the prevalence of obesity occurs more in women. In general, there is a prevalence of inadequate eating habits. Taking into account the waist/hip indicator, 45% have a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
