Abstract

This paper describes the contextual and evolution conditions of the relationship between the media and public perception about addictions to Psychoactive Substances (PASs). This research considers the following topics: international context, illicit drugs versus licit drugs, the addictions to PASs as illness, and the media role. This study is based on a literature review and online. In conclusion presents some approaches and
challenges in relation to the duty of the media to address addictions PASs as a disease and not as a simple bad habit, isolated from the phenomenon of drug trafficking, since the latter is a problem even more complex than the same addictions, by the economic factor , political and embedded power.
