UEES receives recognition from Proyecto Inmigrante during the International Religious Migration Summit CUMIR 2024

The international NGO based in Dallas, Texas, Proyecto Inmigrante gave special recognition to UEES for the leadership shown since the International Religious Migration Summit CUMIR 2023 held in San Salvador and its ongoing commitment to ensure training on issues that contribute to guarantee the rights of migrants who are in a state of vulnerability, ensuring a more just and safe society. The Board of Directors and its Executive Director, Dr. Douglas Interiano received a plaque of recognition during the inauguration ceremony of CUMIR 2024 held at the Universidad San Pablo de Guatemala, which was received by Dr. Douglas Interiano. Nadia Menjívar, General Director of Institutional Strategic Management on behalf of the Rector’s Office.

During the handover of the UEES headquarters to the Universidad San Pablo de Guatemala, he emphasized and invited to continue the multidisciplinary effort that began in 2023 and to identify specific areas of work to advance in the achievements required in the region as defined in the Declaration of San Salvador. He also highlighted the participation in the agenda of panels and conferences of CUMIR 2024 held on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25 with the following representatives:

  • Migration and family separation: Maestro Miguel Méndez Palomo (UEES), Sister Rosa Linda López (EU), Claudia Taracena (GUA), Dra. Alicia Rueda (Spain)
  • Migration and Human Rights: Maestra Emma Muñoz (UEES), Dr. Salvador Sorto (UEES), Vinicio Sandoval (GEMIES), Dra. Judith Bernal (MEX)
  • Opportunities and barriers for migrants’ access to higher education: Dra. Nadia Menjívar (UEES), Dr. German Lozano (MEX), Dr. Víctor Zúniga (MEX) and Dra. Alicia Rueda (Spain)
