On April 17 of this year, a meeting was held between the Universidad Salvadoreña Alberto Masferrer (USAM), the Universidad de El Salvador (UES) and the Universidad Evangélica de El Salvador (UEES). At this meeting, the writing of the multicenter research entitled: “Characterization of care for patients diagnosed with oral cancer in El Salvador”, led by the Faculty of Dentistry of the UEES, was ratified.

The objective of this research is to collect data on the hospital management of patients diagnosed with oral cancer, from initial intervention to follow-up, treatment and survival. The intention is to conduct this research in teaching hospitals affiliated with these three institutions of higher education.

The meeting was attended by the research team from each university, who discussed the details and planning of this initiative. The research will be carried out in two phases: the first phase will consist of the drafting and validation of the preliminary research project during the year 2024, while the second phase will involve the drafting of the final research report using a mixed methodology, which will be carried out in the year 2025. It bodes well for success!
