On Tuesday, May 27, FOUEES participated in the Latin American Meeting of Community Outreach in Dentistry “Dentistry with a Human Face, Oral Health with an Equity Perspective”, organized by the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica; led by Dr. Randall Massís Muñoz, Coordinator of Social Dentistry and Dr. Sergio Castro Mora, Director of the School of Dentistry of the ULatina.
Students from dental schools in Costa Rica, Peru, Nicaragua and El Salvador participated in this meeting. On behalf of FOUEES, students Álvaro Medina, currently in social service, presented the theme: “Dental waste, richness in the land that sustains us”, working on the fertilization of the UEES gardens and developing the environmental awareness of students from the first cycle of the career.
The second participation was by Br. Miriam Marilena Sandoval Nerio, 13th cycle student, who presented the work of FOUEES in the Social Outreach Program, in which both students of the Doctorate in Dental Surgery and Dental Assisting Technician work in synergy to serve populations in vulnerable conditions and developing in students values such as service, empathy and awareness of the needs of our compatriots.
At the end of the meeting there was a declaration of fraternity among the participating institutions, united by the volunteerism that should be an important part of university education.
