Abstract

Until February 2022, El Salvador presents a percentage of 65.2% of the population with a complete vaccine scheme against COVID-19, also reporting no support in the application of the first dose from October 25, 2021 to February 15, 2022, generating the unknown of what are the main causes of non-vaccination in the Salvadoran population. In the present research, the objective was to identify the main causes of non-vaccination against COVID-19 in adults with a positive PCR test who live in the Department of Santa Ana, El Salvador. Methodology with a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective approach The technique was the survey through the COSMO-SPAIN On Line questionnaire of the World Health Organization. The population under study was over 18 years of age without a vaccination schedule, with positive PCR from January to May 2022 living in the department of Santa Ana. The Western Telecentro COVID database was used. Simple random sampling was performed. Descriptive statistics were applied. Result and conclusions, the largest number of participants was female with 54.9%. The age range of unvaccinated was between 18 and 30 years old, and the municipality of Santa Ana being the one that is mostly vaccinated (52%). It is concluded that the main causes of non-vaccination are the risk to health, its lack of effectiveness and lack of information to decide.
