Socio-economic diagnosis of the canton San Isidro los Planes de San Salvador

The San Isidro Los Planes Canton of the San Salvador Volcano is located between Km. 19 and 21. of the road to the volcano and belongs to district 3 of the Municipal Mayor's Office of San Salvador since 2001, previously it was located as a pocket because it had not defined to which municipality to belong. being one among other communities, with marked social needs, it was decided to explore the situation and identify the living condition of its inhabitant, with the aim of proposing projects executable and seek comprehensive care, where In UEES with the support of students and teachers can promote the development of the canton and meet what the institutional Mission demands regarding the service to its peers. A work team was formed with 5 students in social service; 121 household interviews (85% of the population) were conducted with a family representative; We worked with 3 groups of key informants and the community was observed in terms of infrastructure, basic services and sanitation. It was found that most families in the canton have limited incomes below a monthly minimum wage, which is not enough to cover the cost of the basic basket; They do not have access to drinking water or health services, the floors of the houses are mostly dirt , 46% of the population from 1 to 49 years old does not have any educational level and although 87% have electricity service, it is a population located under the Lima of extreme poverty.
