Abstract

The main objective is to present a practical theoretical model in the management of abnormalities of labor progress. The concepts of normal and abnormal labor to be used are described; the graphic instrument to be applied with their respective alert curves, the systematic evaluation of the anomaly and the clinical conduct to follow: It is a retrospective descriptive study of 250 parturients in which the work model has been used in the management of abnormal evolution of childbirth. Among its objectives is the knowledge of the evolution of childbirth, whether normal or abnormal, the frequency and type of anomalies in the progress of childbirth, the route of delivery, the clinical behavior and the perinatal result obtained with the application of the model of delivery. proposed work. The clinical profile of the parturients is similar to the population attended by the Zacamil National Hospital Maternity. It was detected that abnormalities in the progress of labor occur with a frequency of 28%; prolongation and arrest of the active phase in approximately the same proportion (45% urs 46%). In all cases, systematic evaluation of childbirth was carried out with a result of the use of oxytocin in .56% of cases due to inadequate uterine contractility. The cesarean section rate was 5% for the sample in general and in pregnant women with phase active abnormal file of 17%. All neonates were classified as vigorous at 5 minutes after birth through the APGAR score.
