Gender-based violence and teenage pregnancy

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to establish the relationship between teenage pregnancy and gender violence, conducting studies of variables such as schooling, occupation, family status, socioeconomic status and experience of violence. Early pregnancy turns out to be the sum of a series of biological, social, economic and cultural events, the analysis of which requires not only traditional rhetorical explanation; but also, take into account the complexity and diversity of factors linked to it, especially gender violence. This quantitative research describes through the case study of seven pregnant adolescents between 15 and 17 years old, residents of Ciudad Barrios, San Miguel; such as the lack of information, the cultural invisibility of women and their sexual objectification are indissoluble elements of this problem. The results show the presence of gender violence in all things, even when participation does not recognize it as such.  Initially, these results will serve as a basis for the execution of deeper investigations, in addition to being used in the design of prevention programs and care actions for pregnant adolescent women.
