Smoking is becoming more frequent among the population, especially in developing countries, and is expected to increase in the coming years, which will also increase associated mortality. Given this, some institutions focus attention on this type of population, but it is necessary, apart from providing them with adequate treatment to quit smoking, to implement early detection measures to diagnose certain pathologies that may occur more frequently in smokers. . Goal. To establish the alterations of the respiratory and cardiac functions in smoking patients. Materials and methods. Quantitative approach, with descriptive, cross-sectional, observational, retrospective design. The sample was 91. Results. The proportion of small airway obstructive alterations was 40.7%; 29.7% had mild obstruction; 58.8%, moderate, 13.5%, severe. 13.2% presented alterations of the great road; Of these, 33.3% were cases of mild obstruction and 66.7% moderate. 40% of the population presented chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), of which 92.5% were in stage zero and 7.5% in moderate COPD. 5.5% presented right bundle branch block and 1.1% right ventricular hypertrophy. Conclusions. Stage zero COPD and moderate small airway obstruction were the predominant respiratory function abnormalities in the study population.
