A Legacy of Faith, Science and Education: Testimony of Dr. Santiago Echegoyén

Abstract

Education is one of the highest vocations to which a human being can be called: it molds intellects, forges values, awakens the critical sense and guides the search for truth. In the history of education in El Salvador, few names shine as brightly as that of Dr. Santiago Echegoyén, a man who embodied the fusion of faith, knowledge and service.

Dr. Echegoyén was not only an exceptional educator, but also a faithful disciple of the gospel. His legacy reminds us that teaching is not merely the transmission of information, but the integral formation of the human being. The Evangelical University of El Salvador - an institution of which he was one of the co-founders - is a testimony of his vision, of an education based on Christian principles, where science, culture and society dialogue in harmony with faith. In addition, the Faculty of Social Sciences bears his name.
