VISIT TO SAN CARLOS UNIVERSITY IN GUATEMALA


On October 29, 2024, Mr. Carlos Rodriguez, Coordinator of the Technology Transfer Office (OTT-UEES), accompanied by Dr. Aydee Rivera de Parada, Director of Research, on behalf of Dr. Nuvia Estrada, Vice Rector of Research and Liaison, visited the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC). The purpose of this visit was to establish collaboration links with the Technology Transfer Office and the Center for Technology and Innovation Support (CATI-DIGI) of USAC. During the meeting, the strategies implemented by the OTT-UEES were shared, as well as the good practices and experiences acquired, in addition to the experiences of CATI-DIGI in their respective areas. The importance of the TTO in universities for the management of intellectual property (IP) was highlighted. USAC, for its part, presented its proposal for the creation of a TTO, which will strengthen its management capacity in intellectual property issues. The meeting was attended by Dr. Alice Burgos, Director of the Directorate General of Research (DIGI) of USAC, who actively participated in the exchange of knowledge and best practices in relation to research policies, entrepreneurship and intellectual property. In addition, approaches were made with the Technology and Innovation Support Centers (CATI) of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of USAC to explore future collaborations.
