Abstract

Dental caries is an oral disease of high prevalence and incidence worldwide, this is an important public health problem since the majority of the population has had some experience of dental caries. This study aims to estimate the rate of dental caries in children from the Initiative for Peace community program aged 4 to 13 years in
the years 2019-2020, according to sociodemographic and economic factors. It has a quantitative, descriptive, observational and cross-sectional research approach. The sample consisted of 23 patients of both sexes between the ages of 4 and 13 years of the community program Initiative for Peace in Ciudad Delgado El Salvador. The index of dental caries in teeth permanent and deciduous, and a survey of parents was conducted to assess sociodemographic factors. It was found that the prevalence of dental caries in the temporary dentition of the children of the Initiative for Peace community program is 100% and in the permanent dentition it is 69.23%.
