Characterization of higher education teachers and their conceptualization of university quality

Abstract

This work is based on a literature review and exploratory study aims to put into perspective the history of higher education to help understand the characterization of university teachers and especially as teachers themselves conceive the quality of higher education. History of higher education and the role of teacher, regarding university quality were reviewed. In the initial exploration involving 72 teachers, who completed a structured questionnaire was my published on line, where teachers volunteered the information required. Most participating teachers have post graduate studies; ages ranging from 27 to 72 years and the time to be a university lecturer from less than one year to 40 years; 58 of 72 have training in teaching. The conceptualization of a group of teachers, quality means a multidimensional definition, clearly show what
involved university quality is and emphasize the student’s education. Another group has little clarity implying university quality. The findings of this survey help to understand they are thinking teachers and serve to improve the structure of the instrument and expand research techniques that include working with
groups of teachers to build a strategy of teacher training and refresher
