Abstract

The study seeks to determine the level of readiness for learning literacy in children who attend section 3 (6 years) through the application of the ABC test in 12 public and private educational centers, as well as to investigate the perception of the teacher about the methodology used in the preparation for reading and writing. We worked with 286 boys and girls and 12 teachers. The most relevant findings were that the methodological practices used by the teachers in the learning of literacy in their students have a negative influence, since 83% of them continue to apply the synthetic (traditional) methods, neglecting the psychomotor, affective and emotional areas. of language. Therefore, it can be concluded that of the 12 educational institutions investigated, only 2 (17%) of them managed to obtain a high percentage (with a learning deficit of 28%) and the rest remain at a medium level (with a learning deficit of 48%). This indicates that although they already have children applying reading, they present several deficiencies in their acquired skills, becoming an obstacle in the near future to acquire a good reading comprehension.
