The practice of intellectual property (IP) management, in today's landscape of rapid technological advancement, higher education institutions (HEIs) have become a fundamental factor in fostering the contemporary innovation and research ecosystem. In this sense, universities have become the nucleus for the development of novel research results, with outstanding contributions to the state of the art and economic development. The recognition of a third mission of the university related to the transfer of research results has been established in HEIs as a global trend with doctrinal support and practical potential (Carbajo Cascón et al; 2019; Rothaermel et al., 2007).
