The Evangelical University of El Salvador was founded in 1981, with its first rector being Roberto Lucio Paredes Ortiz, a graduate in
Social Sciences, teacher of Rural Primary Education; accredited by the Latin American School of Sociology (ELAS) of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Santiago de Chile, for University Teaching and Research in Sociology. In 2014, the Executive Board of this University, within the framework of the XXXIII Anniversary of its foundation, at the proposal of the Academic Council, agrees to grant Lic. Paredes Ortiz the title of DOCTOR HONORIS CAUSA, "as a sign of deep respect, admiration and recognition of his intellectuality, humanitarianism, academic and scientific capacity;
for his invaluable contribution to salvadoran society in the field of education, his leadership as Founding Member and First Rector (1981-1987) of the Evangelical University of El Salvador stands out, for the benefit of generations of professionals
of different specialties that it has trained, and of the population in general”.
