Informational Competence in university students: A look at their beliefs and adhesions

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to characterize informational competence (IC) in first-semester university students in Colombia, based on practices they establish with information sources. Methodologically, a qualitative descriptive observational study was carried out, for which an instrument with two components was built: collection
data and registration. The results allowed us to identify three IQ profiles: collector, verifier and reflective, which were analyzed from the adhesions in relation to the beliefs in the potentiated mode and for the context of secondary education. It is concluded that the adherences and beliefs that make up the potentiating modality of IC (beliefs and adherences) are
They manifest as part of the experiences that students have had in the way they relate to information and consume it.
