The investigation process in the prosecutor's office of the crime of trafficking in women in the period 2012 to 2019

This article analyzes from the perspective of criminal law and the gender approach the investigation process that is carried out in the prosecutor's office on the crime of trafficking in women during the period 2012 to 2019. An applied methodology and descriptive analysis with a quantitative approach was designed. ; analyzing from a social legal perspective, the actions and results obtained in the investigation of the crime of trafficking in women from the different legal tools. The contribution of this investigation allows knowing the actions carried out by the State to collect evidence and develop a prosecution of the crime. As part of the findings, it was determined that El Salvador has shown progress in the regulation of the crime of human trafficking and the establishment of persecution policies and protocols. However, the statistical results of the investigation process represent a low trend in the punishment of the crime, thus making it difficult to guarantee the rights of victims, access to justice and favoring impunity and legal insecurity.
