Abstract

When reflecting on the Protestant Reformation and its significance, crucial events and decisive contributions come to mind. This paper seeks to contribute to that endeavor by offering a comparative analysis of three figures in Reformation history, Luther, Zwingli, and Calvin, who, through their work, thought, and writings, became champions of evangelical Christianity and left a legacy of faith and masterful conviction. To this end, this paper outlines some of the main events in each of their lives, most of which are well-known, along with the controversies that accompanied their work. Similarly, it offers a glimpse into their thought; building on this, it compares their theology in terms of both convergent and divergent points. To this end, the contributions of various historians and scholars who present, analyze, and evaluate these figures of Reformed history are examined and recorded. Having done so, a
critical assessment will finally be developed of both their historical and theological influence and their legacy.
