Stages of mourning in the context of a pandemic from a pastoral approach

Abstract

The stages of mourning have been lived through history as different cultural manifestations that identify each town or community, many of these stages are ac companied by a strong ritual and religious
component. Many of these ritualistic mourning traditions have been models of strength and hope when a loved one is lost due to death; under this perspective, pastoral care must play a very relevant role with the people or families who have lost and continue to lose. loved ones because of theCOVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic, because of the measures decreed as a health emergency by the World Health Organization,
the health crisis demanded at the same time the modification of the stages of mourning  in this atypical stage of pain, death, and separation. In this sense, the Church, through pastoral care, is facing an unequal challenge
to accompany the suffering of her community of faith and of society itself Introducció
