Within the Protestant and evangelical tradition, education has always been an important thing and a priority since its origins. In fact, many of the most prestigious universities there are today, most of them in the Anglo-Saxon world: Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale and others, were founded or influenced in educational matters by Protestant educators and theologians. And, as a legacy of the Reformation, from its origins these institutions introduced in their educational programs: he study of the Bible in its original languages, Hebrew and Greek, as well as the study of theology. That is why, to this day,
these universities stand out among other things, for the quality of their teaching including theological education. In the specific case of Harvard, the preparation of pastors was initially its primary objective,
since its founders were very interested in giving it an integral formation, both ministerial and academic, to Christian ministers. In the case of Yale, founded by the Mather brothers, who had come out of Harvard, it arises as a proposal against liberalism, and will also make its mission of educating people in theological matters and in other areas. All with the purpose of forming educated citizens and with
Christian principles
