Abstract

This article provides a detailed analysis of the conflict between two key figures in Israeli society: the priest and the prophet, focusing on the passage in Amos 7:10–17. Throughout the text, the fundamental role of each figure and their influence on the religious and social life of Israel are examined. The priest, represented by Amaziah, is the guardian of official worship and defender of the established power; while the prophet Amos, as God’s messenger, denounces corruption and social injustices. This analysis highlights the tension between institutional authority and the prophetic voice, emphasizing their influence on the religious and moral transformation of Israelite society.
